If you are at all involved in the Vainglory community like I am, you for sure know the names of the greats like Oldskool, VONC, and CullTheMeek. But do you really know much about them aside from their outstanding performance game in and game out? I'm Nick, otherwise known as critical in game, and I've been around Vainglory for 2 years now. I've seen so many great teams rise to power and some fall. Players have come and gone but there are several highly skilled people who are especially talented and dominate the fold. In this series I will be showcasing these players in a sort of mini biography of their eSports careers.
This weeks star will be Michael Valore, more commonly known as FlashX, the roamer for eSports powerhouse TeamSoloMid. At the age of 24, Flash has been playing Vainglory since it was showcased by apple in 2014. With a large knowledge and background of MOBAs, DOTA and DOTA 2, to be exact, Flash was awed by the idea of a touch screen MOBA. He started playing in the fall of 2014 when it was exclusive to SEA servers. Despite the tough time with connection issues he was still amazed by the engine and graphics of the game. When the game was released in NA his first guild was Wicked. Although fun for him, he had made friends and wanted to start his own organization and established Team Venom with friends cWhit and johnstamos. During his time with Team Venom, he and well established Nemesis had formed a genuine rivalry with one another, thus sparking the long time friendly rivalry of Nemesis laner Hardek, and Flash. Early in the next year, Flash and his team merged into long time Vainglory org Gankstars, for a short time competing along side Chino and IraqiZorro. Then in the summer, after a disagreement about upcoming star MICHSE’s recruitment, Flash parted ways with Gankstars. Shortly thereafter Flash established Ardent with friends Sophie808 and BrizzleMcFizzle. Ardent began to grow and flourish as not only a competitive force, but a community figure. In the fall of 2015 Ardent claimed victory in the Autumn qualifier, Besting Team VON for their ticket to the VIPL. Dominating alongside ShinKaigan and MICSHE, Ardent Alliance found their way into the finals against Invincible Armada, arguably the most talented team in the world. In a crucial point in the series, FlashX made a play of a lifetime by stealing kraken in a 3v1 situation, which turned the tide of the game around and arguably won Ardent Alliance the VIPL season 2 title. After this huge victory, Flash was offered to form a team under the TeamSoloMid name, establishing the massive group in yet another eSports game. Flash, MICHSE, and newly acquired CullTheMeek, battled their way through the competitive scene, winning the 2016 Winter live finals and crowning them the best in NA. After being knocked out in the first half of the spring live finals, MICSHE and Cull left the team, pursuing different options. Flash stayed loyal to TSM, and recruited jungler VONC and long time player from Vertigo, BestChuckNA. Although with a shorter time of partnership than other teams, the fresh TSM roster showed outstanding synergy through both splits of the evil 8, again returning to another live finals for Summer 2016. It was apparent from day 1 who the dominant force of the finals were, and Flash and his team won the summer season, securing yet another major win for FlashX. This brings us to now, where Vainglory is growing rapidly in player base and in the eSports scene. Flash and his team are still together, with the best synergy of any team out there. Ironically, Flash’s favorite player to watch is his teammate VONC, who we all know has such an aggressive and unique playstyle. Flash also has a sort of role model in famous roamer R3cked. Although being such an adroit roamer and having a keen sense of the fold, Flash looks up to R3cked, and pushes himself to be better. Flash loves being looked up to by aspiring players, as it motivates him to show out and grow as a player each day. Thanks for reading the first article of The Faces of Vainglory, be sure to tune in weekly and learn more about your favorite VG stars!
